Posted in News

New York, NY, May 20, 2008 –- WHY (World Hunger Year), a non-profit organization working to fight hunger and poverty, has teamed with RightsFlow, a NY-based music, media and entertainment-focused Professional Services & Outsourced Music Licensing Solutions., to form a strategic philanthropic partnership that helps drive revenue to fight hunger.

WHY was co-founded in 1975 by artist-activist Harry Chapin and current executive director Bill Ayres and remains connected to their musical roots through their Artists Against Hunger & Poverty initiative with support from Bruce Springsteen, Michael McDonald, Jackson Browne, Lupe Fiasco, and many others. The newly announced RightsFlow partnership is in associate with Artists Against Hunger & Poverty, WHY’s program that enlists performing artists to raise awareness and funds for the fight against hunger and poverty.

“We both appreciate and greatly admire the generosity of RightsFlow as they chart the course for a music industry business model that does well by doing good.” said Noreen Springstead, WHY’s Director of Marketing & Fundraising. “In America today, more than 25 million people rely on food banks, pantries, and soup kitchens to feed themselves and their families. RightsFlow’s commitment to WHY will help to address this and hopefully inspire others to action.”

RightsFlow builds an unprecedented and unique financial contribution model by donating 5% of revenues to WHY, RightsFlow President & CEO Patrick Sullivan stated “RightsFlow is proud to contribute a portion of our revenues to WHY. We feel it is our social responsibility as a company to give back and we feel honored to contribute to the fight on hunger. By creating a business philanthropy model that provides social awareness with added entertainment and media value we can use our strengths to help those that need it most.”

WHY is helping thousands of America’s hungry connect to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelter, and government programs in their areas by providing immediate help through the National Hunger Hotline 1-866-3-HUNGRY. WHY also supports the work of more than 8,750 community-based organizations working on the frontlines to help poor and hungry Americans move out of poverty, more specifically helping them tap their own power to be self-reliant through job training, life skills, urban farming, after school programs, affordable housing, entrepreneurial businesses, and much more. WHY fights hunger and poverty worldwide with grassroots solutions that secure basic rights to food, water, land, jobs, and credit.
