Second NARM Salon Packs New York Venue – Patrick Sullivan, RightsFlow CEO, Moderates Panel

Posted in News

NARM held its second Salon Series event before a packed room at the Soho House NY on February 22. A panel of experts that represented BMI, CBS Interactive, HFA, RightsFlow, Roadrunner Records, The Songwriters Guild of America, and SoundExchange discussed the topic of streamlining digital licensing. Standardization of digital licensing was a key point during the discussion and NARM will be planning future events to advance this topic forward.

“The licensing discussion at our Salon validated the urgent need for the industry to work collaboratively on streamlining business practices and adopting operational standards that will take costs out of the system and help advance the digital marketplace,” said NARM President Jim Donio. “Our new Digital Think Tank is doing just that, with a laser focus in the short-term on broadening the scope and utility of the Association’s integrated product database to embrace all physical, digital and mobile entertainment content. Consumers don’t care that this is difficult, they just want a seamless, open and easy experience and we need to get it done.”

The Salon agenda also included a research conversation between Wired’s Eliot Van Buskirk and Forrester’s Sonal Gandhi, who took a close look at key offerings consumers are looking for and which might encourage purchase behavior.
