Cannes, France, January 17, 2009 – United For Opportunity, a leading independent distributor and RightsFlow, a provider of licensing and royalty services, announced today that United For Opportunity will utilize RightsFlow’s Outsourced Music Licensing system (“FLOW”) to handle DPD licensing for United for Opportunity and its artist clients.
“This partnership with RightsFlow provides a key element in meeting our artist-first philosophy,” stated Noah Dinkin, Head of Digital and Business Development for United For Opportunity “Through RightsFlow, we are able to provide an easy, turn-key method for artists to navigate the complex realm of mechanical licensing, enabling the sale of more content.”

Under U.S. Copyright Law, mechanical licenses are required for music to be distributed through online music services. The current U.S. statutory mechanical rate for permanent downloads is 9.1¢ for songs five minutes or less and 1.75¢ per minute for songs over five minutes. RightsFlow’s outsourced licensing service utilizes the bulk licensing system of The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA), a leading U.S. music rights licensing organization, to ensure publishers and songwriters are properly compensated under U.S. law.
