Ultra International Music Publishing has cut a deal to provide its catalog of hip-hop, R&B, reggae, latin and dance music to Muzak’s platform of customized playlists.  Muzak creates customized music playlists for 350,000 clients that are experienced by 100 million people every day, according to the company, which uses Rightsflow to license and track royalty payments.  Ultra’s song catalog includes “Blame It” performed by Jamie Fox feat T Pain and “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” performed by Pitbull.

Three-day celebration includes industry conference about music and branding

Billboard: Fit For Royalty- Muzak Secures Strategic Partnership With RightsFlow

New York, NY – May 23, 2009 – The royalty processing and licensing company RightsFlow has formed a strategic partnership with Muzak to help manage the latter’s licensing and accounting. RightsFlow, a New York-based company that launched in October 2007, will supplement the efforts of Muzak’s in-house licensing staff. The deal comes three months after the Fort Mill, S.C.-based Muzak, which provides music to 400,000 retail stores, filed Feb. 10 for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

MIDEM: Sullivan Predicts End of DRM

CANNES, Jan. 30 –- RightsFlow Entertainment Group principal Patrick Sullivan does not believe that music will all be free in the future but he is convinced that 2008 will see the end of DRM. “DRM is dead and I think we’ll see a move by a big company with a lot of investment capital, someone like Google, to force the issue this year,” he said.
