Scott Sellwood Strategic Partner Development Manager
Scott Sellwood is a proven attorney, strategist and music business executive with over twelve years of practical negotiation, litigation, counseling, and business development experience. As RightsFlow’s Senior Vice President of Business Affairs and General Counsel, Scott manages the company’s legal and business affairs and numerous business development, direct licensing and publisher relations programs. He has a wide-ranging background in licensing, publishing and digital distribution and assists clients develop strategies for licensing and business risk management with respect to the exploitation of music content through interactive streaming, non-interactive webcasting, karaoke, background music, digital jukebox, synch, UGC and new media. He also manages and mediates client-publisher disputes which to date has a one-hundred percent success rate at resolving publisher issues on behalf of clients.
Prior to joining RightsFlow, Scott was a litigator and counselor at Farella, Braun + Martel, LLP and Landels, Ripley & Diamond, LLP in San Francisco, CA, where he prosecuted and defended high-profile environmental, land use and product stewardship actions for an international array of companies, including General Electric, Chevron, Levi Strauss & Co., and the University of California.
Scott is a frequent speaker at conferences and local universities on topics ranging from publishing to rights management to copyright monetization. Scott also leads a RightsFlow team authoring the music business licensing course offered by the Berklee College of Music. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the American Association of Independent Music Licensing and Publishing Committee.
Scott is a well-traveled musician, having toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe for over a decade, including as a long-time member and tour manager of the critically-acclaimed indie band, Saturday Looks Good to Me (K Records). He continues to advise independent labels and musicians and thus serves as a valuable liaison to the vibrant independent label and artistic community.
