Emily Taken-Vertz Manager of Operations

As manager of operations Emily facilitates and strengthens RightsFlow’s international licensing and royalty capabilities in Spain and throughout Latin America. Using her Spanish fluency, she works with international collecting societies to correctly and efficiently license and account for clients expanding into Latin American territories. In addition, Emily brings significant skills in data management to support the company’s ability to obtain and account for bulk mechanical licenses efficiently and cost-effectively. Her responsibilities include maintaining the accuracy of RightsFlow’s database and researching copyright information to secure licenses for RightsFlow’s varied and diverse clients.

Prior to joining RightsFlow, Emily lived in Santiago, Chile and became heavily involved in the cumbia rock scene of the country. She managed and promoted several bands in clubs throughout Santiago, becoming well-versed in international copyright and licensing. Emily also traveled throughout the continent tracking and writing about local musical cultures and legal copyright infrastructure in countries such as Argentina, Colombia and Peru.

She has previously held positions at Emerging Sovereign Group, a hedge fund based in NYC specializing in emerging markets in Latin America, as well as at Discovery Communications in the program development department specializing in creative licensing. She is a CUNY Macaulay Honors College scholar and holds a B.A. in Media Studies and a minor in Spanish from Hunter College in New York City.
